I played around with the car this evening and unplugged the electrical connection to the EGR valve. I noticed right away a change in exhaust sound and a distinctive hiss, a lot like a vacuum leak. I took it out for a drive with the EGR unplugged and the turbo seemed to spool up faster but surged a bit. I reconnected it and cleared 2 DTCs out. Little/no carbon build up in intake -- on other hand, some argue ULSD + EGR = no intake carbon, but this has not been my first hand experience. My opinion is that it is a waste of money to purchase a "race pipe." The VCDS adaptation turns it down but not off. Best solution is Malone tuning's dynamic EGR IMHO.
